Sandwich Island Bass (SIB)'s combination of moombahton, trap, and future bass is a rising force in the global bass music underground.
Early support for the Maui-based production trio from moombahton blogs led to a series of free releases on genre defining generationbass.com compilations 'New Wave of Moombahton' (Moombacid Bounce), 'Spring of Moombahton' (Kliqs). All round good vibes on these freebies brought the boys to the attention of Rot10Musik, a New York based-indie label at the heart of the rise of Moombahton. Their debut release, Sandwich Island Bass Vol. 1 entered the Beatport house top 100 chart reaching #77, and remains a favourite of the Moombahcore underground.
The boys followed this up with an official remix of Ozomatli's cumbia classic 'Cumbia de los Muertos', in fall this year. In a joint effort with Phoenix's Frank Mendez, OZOton, was released released on Frank's El-Cuco records, and supported by Ozomatli via the bands website, facebook and twitter feeds.
In December, SIB's third release of the year, Herbalists (feat Little Freddy) was selected by Top Billin' Records for its Tracks of 2012 compilation, raising the temperature on what was already a hot year.
With a slew of new original material and collaborations booked for 2013, the boys are hoping to close the year with a bang with a series of high profile shows in the islands.
